On Friday the 5th of July, we traveled down a dirt road (NC 105) to a Forest Road (106) to an unmarked trail to a secret waterfall. What a hike!

Marty downloaded the trail map onto his phone and we started off. At some point we got off the trail and had to find our way back. At one point, Ghost just sat down. He seemed to be wondering what the heck we were doing scrambling rocks going up the side of a mountain and let us know he needed a break. We eventually got back on the trail and found the waterfall.
Since we have not had much rain recently, there was very little water, but it was still gorgeous. The way back was much easier.
This was my birthday hike. I thank God for my good health every day. I don’t feel like I am 56! When we got back to camp, I ordered a Garmin Montana 700i for Marty. His birthday is on the 21st.
The more I got to thinking about some of the hikes we take and the lackluster maps we sometimes follow, the more I thought we needed a trail GPS.
On Saturday, Marty fell on the trail which made us both realize the Montana 700i could be a live saver. With unlimited SOS messages- we can get help no matter where we adventure. I’ll be sure to give some reviews after we use it. We will be on the water Saturday and plan on bringing it along.
