Part of the trail is still closed due to damage from Helene, but we were able to ride from Galax to Fries Junction (12 miles). Once you get to Fries, the trail is closed. We both took our Gunnars today.
If you look at the picture of the debris on the bridge pylon below, you’ll see how high the water was during hurricane Helene! pretty impressive!
We saw several deer on the trail. One stared at us for a hot minute before dashing off into the woods. It was a beautiful fall day. Perfect for a 24.1 mile ride on the New River Trail. By the end, I was dreaming of my Theragun at home. 😂
Once the entire trail opens again, we want to camp along the trail over a few days. The whole trail is 57 miles one way. 114 of you do it out and back. It’s on my bucket list.
We have promised Ghost that we will bring him camping this winter. This is in reparation for having left him home while we went on our honeymoon. LoL
It’s a blessing that I married my best friend. He loves to do all the outdoorsy things I love to do. He cheers me on and is patient. I’m a lot slower than he is.
This week, we meet with the photographer who had the wedding photos complete! I’m hoping to get a digital package so we can play them on a digital frame at home. I’ll definitely share some here.
