Husky Love and other Musings

Husky Love

Until you have had two huskies, you really won’t understand husky love. Lard ham mercy, sometimes I tell them to get a room. Huskies are very friendly and loving — no doubt about that. Wooly Siberian Huskies are known to have a very sweet disposition, as well. When we rescued Ghost 6 months ago, he wouldn’t even play with Ammy. He didn’t even talk to us. Now he is the happiest pup I have ever seen. He plays and he talks like he has been with us since he was a puppy. I told my middle son the other day that I think God sent Ghost to us because he knew Ammy needed a friend. It’s really sweet to watch them together. They are funny.

Watching them together got me to thinking about a million things. If only people got along as well as huskies. There would be no divorce or war. Huskies want to get along with everyone. Humans? We just suck sometimes.

I’m not a husky and getting along with other humans takes a lot of work. Huskies make it look easy. In October, I’ve been asked to watch the other 3 grandchildren while #4 enters the world. Then there is the baptism. Since it’s down there where all of douchewaffle’s family lives, they will all be at the baptism. So the mission to find the perfect dress has begun. And the perfect shoes. It’s important. I told my middle son, “If I have a pretty dress an shoes, and feel good about how I look, I am less likely to make the mistake of saying, ‘hello whoredog, I mean Missy……” They have been together for over 7 years and got married last year. You’d think I would have had to meet her at some point. God saved me. <laughter> I wasn’t ready at my son’d graduation– and it ended up being postponed.

I’ve only spoken to her once– the night the police were looking for my youngest because he’s threatened to kill people. I called DW’s phone and WD answered the second time I called. DW didn’t have the cojones to answer, I guess. Anyway….. it has always ben inevitable that we would meet at a family function at some point. Soooo…. the countdown begins. I have no idea what she even looks like. She could be a super model for all I know. I doubt it, but I’ll find out soon enough. Is it bad that I hope I’m prettier and skinnier than she is? Just keeping it real here– I’m kinda hoping she’s a couch potato who has the figure of Mrs. Potato Head. With lots of bags and wrinkles, while I’m being honest.

Where I’m typing this blog post

I’ll have to get all dressed up and channel my inner husky to get through the day. I’ve got until the 22nd of October to prepare……..

In other news, work is getting better. I think I have the division I rolled out in January on the right path. Which means that I will have more time working from home. As my middle son works from home in the home office, I have tried to find another space. So far, the kitchen table works out better than the cat room. I am very noise sensitive and have had a lot going on at home recently. This past week I got a lot done– it was quiet and the 3 dogs behaved! After spending the majority of the last 4 months in hotels traveling or being in a house full of noise, it was nice to have peace and quiet and get caught up on work.

In an attempt to find a nice place outside- I set up a very large 17 year old tent to try out as an office. My back deck and front porch are nice, but the sun makes it hard to see a computer screen. I have an umbrella on one of my tables, but the struggle is always real. Working from the front porch swing just doesn’t work. I was going to buy another canopy, but figured I could save money by putting up the tent in the backyard. It is so big, that Marty and I will never use it, so what the heck, right?

I like being outside. It beats sitting inside all day! I have also been looking into camping sites that have wifi — I can work from anywhere, right? This would be AMAZING if I could find places with good enough WiFi. If you know of any, note it in the comments. If this works, it may be one of the single best ideas I have ever had to break up the monotony of working from home at my kitchen table! I’ve been trying to keep a journal of all the camping sites we’ve been to– it has worked out that I journal about as often as I post on this blog. <laughter>

Last thing on my list – if you have a dog who likes to escape, try a Fi collar. They are great. I got Ammy one for my middle son’s birthday. Now he is trying to move her up the husky ranks and he’s been walking with me daily and even asks me to go out to walk with him. Today we hit a trail not far from the house and got 2 1/2 miles in. I would never trade this for anything or anyone in the world! Time with my adult children is a precious gift from God and I will never take it for granted. This walks have been a time of great conversation. We share our hopes, dreams and faith. It’s a great way to connect.

I know you’ve been through so much, Pattie, much of it related to your marriage. Put on your gorgeous dress and shoes and thank God for your blessings. Your ex hasn’t changed and I can’t imagine what your life would have been like if he was still in it. Focus on your kids and grand kids and be happy!
