Eighteen years I have hated this yellow room. The day we moved in back in April of 2005, I painted the green living room a beige. When I bought it, there were 3 green rooms, all different greens— variations of seafood green. Two mustard yellow rooms, one lighter than the other. A red room, a pink room, an eggshell room and wallpaper. We shall not discuss the wallpaper. I hate wallpaper.
I worked four 12-14 hour days, so Friday, I stopped at noon (except to check emails) and got to painting. This room used to be our classroom and part craft room for me. Just over 7 years ago, a friend gave me a gorgeous desk that I put into the room and it was my office until my middle son started working from home and made it his office. I moved my desk to create an office in my “formal” dining room. It works.

I love how the room turned out. It is going to be a great space for me to craft. The middle is going to a hybrid schedule Jan 1 and will be going into the office more. He plans on just working from his desk in his room on the one or two days he works from home. I have never had a craft room and I really have not had time to craft in the last 7 plus years! Too busy working and doing home improvement projects. HA! Mostly it has been because bookshelves went missing and I never bought more– so much of my stuff was shoved into closets. Maybe I’ll get back to it with the right space.
I absolutely love how it turned out. I have also made the house my own. After 18 years, it’s finally starting to be mine. Giggle. It looks so much different! It is definitely worth the effort. I hope to get shelves or something in here at some point, but that’s going to have to wait after the flooring bill I just paid.

Today, I painted baseboards while Marty worked to install the flooring. It is really looking AMAZING. I bought the flooring from a local business — they have a cross as part of their logo. I love supporting local businesses with the same values! The color is called Grand Canyon. Fitting, don’t you think?
Ghost is ready for the construction to be overweigh so that he can get back to his regularly scheduled adventures. I need a vacation. I feel like I have been working and painting every minute that I’m not at my paid job. It will be worth it in the end. Honestly, now that the carpet is up and the walls are painted, I feel like I could sell it if I had to. And that feels amazing.
Hopefully we will have all the projects except the middle son’s room done before Christmas. He got his room painted and it will be the last to get the new flooring.
I really enjoy your blogs. And – Yes, much better on the eyes!
