A Baptist Boy and a Catholic Girl

The last two and a half months have been a blur. 3 dogs, 5 cats, 4 kids, and 4 adults in the same house. They closed on their new house yesterday and will be moved in by the weekend. While it has been nice to have the grands here, I am ready to get my house back. It’s been difficult to work (mostly from home) with all the extra noise in the house.

We’ve had fires in the backyard, roasted marshmallows and had lots of fun. The kids love going to the dairy farm with Marty and me to get our eggs, milk and cream. The ice cream is pretty good, too.

The Fayetteville division is doing well — got it rolled out Jan 1. Lumberton is hanging in there. All other divisions rolling along and we are getting ready to add new clients this summer. It’s great to be with a company that keep growing.

And……. somewhere in the chaos, Marty proposed and I accepted. We looked at rings and I’m going with a simple solitaire. The diamonds will be in at the jeweler next week and we will hopefully pick one out. That’s the easy part of all this. Explaining to Marty all the Catholic stuff…… I think he is shocked. He finally said, “It’s your wedding, I’ll endure whatever has to be done.”

Catholics don’t have a 5 minute anything. With or without the Mass, the wedding takes 45 min to an hour. It’s a sacrament and it takes time and a liturgy. I got this really neat book, “The Catholic Wedding Planner” that has devotions and information on the whole process. I thought it would be a good reference to help Marty with all the Catholic stuff. He’s been to Mass with my middle and me and we go to Mass when we travel, but that doesn’t really explain all things Catholic.

Tomorrow, I go to meet with our parish priest to discuss everything and to see what days the church and church hall are available. Looking at the Fall, but we will see what’s available. As Catholics, we cannot set the date any sooner than 6 months. We have counseling and marriage prep that we have to go through before we can tie the knot.

We have been camping and hiking— finding some great boondocking locations. Ghost doesn’t like it when we go off-roading in the Jeep. He climbs in my lap when the Jeep starts to get bumpy. He’s a funny husky. He loves the adventures we take, but prefers his four paw drive to my Jeep’s 4WD.

About the only things I know about our “Biggs” celebration right now is that it will be at church with the reception in the church hall. I’ll also make the invitations myself. Oh, and I won’t be wearing white. It shouldn’t be too difficult to get put together. The most important part is that it be in church. The rest is just icing on the wedding cake.

If anyone deserves a happy ending, and a brand new beginning, it’s you. Marty is a good man. May God bless the two of you in Holy Matrimony. All my love–Renee
