Kokadjo, Maine

On our 4th day in Maine, we headed north to Kokadjo.

We wanted to see a moose in the wild. We found Lazy Tom’s Bog in Kokadjo and paddled there for several hours. We came across a very large beaver dam which was really cool! Beavers create entire ecosystems with their dams! These bogs are important for all sorts of creatures and plant life.

Since moose come out during twilight, we waited near the bog until dark. Several people came along, stayed for a few minutes and appeared to give up. We waited.

Two moose came out! Marty brought his good binoculars and we were able to see them quite well. We took pictures, but with so little light and no tripod, they are not fantastic.

It’s pretty amazing that I found someone willing to wait in the middle of nowhere for the chance to see a moose in the wild. That’s true love. ❤️
